What is "Dynamic Web Module" ?

      Q. How does NetConsoleTM deal with Access Control ?

A. Basically, CC&C's NetConsole controls the menu display and system functions through user's "Group Privileges". Each menu item and system function is associated with certain groups. Only users in these groups can see and use specific menu items and system functions, i.e. groups are assigned certain menu items, system functions and objects, then are assigned users to different groups.

There are two kinds of groups in NetConsole: One is the "Navigation Group" for system navigation and the other is the "Project Group" for entering Project/Task hours in Timesheets.

(1) Navigation Groups :

By default, navigation Groups have both 'System Admin' and 'System Users' groups.
The 'System Admin' group has system administrator's privileges, and can see and use the entire system, including Timesheets, Billing, Payroll, Calendar and System Admin modules. However, the 'System User' group has only the regular users' privileges, and can only see and use Timesheets (Enter Timesheets) and Calendar modules.

We use the Navigation Groups to control and restrict the user's accessibility and navigation capabilities. Any attempts of accessingother restricted areas will be prompted with an "Invalid Access" message. Basically, users can only SEE and USE whatever modules and functions that their group privileges allow.

(2) Project Groups :

Project Groups define what Projects and Tasks(Charge Codes) that a user has been assigned to work on for entering timesheets. Basically, Project Groups permissions decide what "Charge Codes" that a user can SEE and CHARGE to. For instance, if you have assigned "Employee A" to project "IT001", then Employee A can only see those Charge Codes related to the project "IT001" on the "Enter Timesheets" page. Employee A has no right to view or enter any hours on other Projects that he is not assigned to. Note that only the System Administrator has the right to assign group privileges.

When you open the "Enter Timesheets" page, you will see a list of Projects and Tasks in the selection boxes. These are the Projects and Tasls belonging to those Project Groups that you have been assigned to. Use "Project Manager" to create Projects, Tasks, assign Charge Codes and assign Groups to Projects.
